Getting ETH onto Robinhood Chain
Gas on Robinhood Chain is paid in ETH held on the chain itself, and every token trades against ETH by default. Launching a token costs gas only. ETH on Ethereum or another chain can be used here once you bridge it across.
Bridge onto the chain
Robinhood Chain is an Arbitrum-stack layer 2, so it has a canonical bridge as well as faster third-party options. These docs do not list individual bridges, because a bridge link can go stale. The chain publishes its own maintained list:
Open that page yourself instead of following a bridge link someone sends you in a chat.
Plan for two things:
- Bridging in is much faster than bridging out. Withdrawing to Ethereum through a canonical rollup bridge includes a challenge period before your funds are available.
- The final withdrawal step happens on Ethereum and costs L1 gas. Keep a little ETH there if you plan to withdraw that way.
Check the current timings on the official page before you move funds.
Try StartupOS on testnet
The test version of StartupOS runs on Robinhood Chain testnet (chain ID 46630):
You can launch, buy and sell there without risking real money. While StartupOS is in early access, the test site also needs your personal access code (see Getting started). Instead of bridging, request free test ETH from the faucet:
Good to know:
- Test ETH has no value and cannot be moved to mainnet.
- Testnet tokens stay on testnet. Nothing you launch or buy there carries over to mainnet.
- Fees are the same on both networks. Testnet uses the same trade fees, the same fee splits and the same bonding curve as mainnet. See Fees and burns.
- A few things work differently on testnet. Paying with ETH does not work for a token paired with another coin, because the Uniswap router on testnet points at mainnet contracts. New features usually reach testnet first. Network and addresses lists every difference.
Before you send funds
- Check the destination network. Your address is the same on every EVM chain, and funds only exist on the chain they were sent to. Confirm the destination is Robinhood Chain before you press send.
- Keep ETH back for gas. Every on-chain action costs a little ETH, including launches, trades, approvals, claims and delivering creator earnings. Leave some in your wallet after each trade.
- Bring ETH. Gas on Robinhood Chain is paid in ETH, so arriving with only a stablecoin leaves you unable to transact.
- Keep a little ETH on Ethereum if you plan to withdraw through the canonical bridge later.
Once your ETH has arrived, go back to Getting started to connect your wallet, or see Network and addresses for the chain details.
