Getting started
You need a wallet, the Robinhood Chain network added to it, and some ETH for gas. While StartupOS is in early access, you also need a personal access code.
Mainnet and testnet
StartupOS runs on Robinhood Chain, on two networks:
| Mainnet | Testnet | |
|---|---|---|
| Chain ID | 4663 | 46630 |
| Money | Real ETH | Free test ETH |
| Site | https://startupos.fun | https://testnet.startupos.fun |
| Access | An access code, during early access | An access code, during early access |
Both networks charge the same fees and use the same bonding curve. A few features differ, and Network and addresses lists them. For free test ETH, see Getting ETH onto Robinhood Chain.
1. Enter your access code
While StartupOS is in early access, both sites are invite-only. Every page shows an Under development screen until you enter a personal access code. Press Log in, type your code and press Enter site. The site then asks you to connect your wallet and sign in, as in steps 2 and 3 below.
The first wallet that signs in with a code claims it, and after that the code only works with that wallet, so use the wallet you plan to keep. Your code is personal: do not pass it on. If you need it moved to another wallet, email support@startupos.fun.
2. Connect a wallet
Use the Connect Wallet button in the top bar. StartupOS works with browser wallets and with mobile wallets through WalletConnect.
Once connected, the button becomes your account pill, showing your username or shortened address. Its menu has View profile, Account settings and Disconnect.
3. Sign in
Right after you connect, your wallet asks you to sign a short message. This is the sign-in: it proves the address is yours, costs no gas and moves no funds. You can decline it and still browse and trade, except while StartupOS is in early access, when every page needs a signed-in wallet. What your wallet asks for during a trade, such as an approval, is covered in Paying for a trade.
Sessions expire after a while. If the app asks you to sign in again, that is all that happened. Disconnecting your wallet ends the session straight away.
4. Add Robinhood Chain
If your wallet is on a different network, an Add network button appears in the top bar. It asks your wallet to add Robinhood Chain and switch to it, with the RPC and explorer filled in.
The network picker in the top bar shows Robinhood Chain as the active network. Other entries in it cannot be selected yet.
If you try to trade on the wrong network, the app asks you to switch first. If the automatic switch fails, switch by hand using the details on Network and addresses.
5. Get some ETH
Gas is paid in ETH held on Robinhood Chain, and every token trades against ETH by default. ETH on Ethereum or another chain counts once you bridge it across, as covered on Getting ETH onto Robinhood Chain.
What needs a sign-in
| Needs nothing | Needs a connected wallet | Also needs sign-in |
|---|---|---|
| Browsing the market, token pages, charts, trades, holders, leaderboards, analytics, fees and burns, and Learn articles | Buying and selling, delivering or claiming creator earnings, claiming holder rewards, buying FOMO tickets and basket shares, and adding a token or network to your wallet | Launching a token, live chat and going live, editing your profile, notifications, messages, referrals and points, and syncing your watchlist and follows across devices |
While StartupOS is in early access, every page also needs your access code and a signed-in wallet.
When you launch a token, the app asks you to sign in before it uploads your token's image and details, if you have not signed in already. Posting a comment needs sign-in and holding the token you are commenting on. There is more on all of this in Your account.
If something looks stuck
A newly launched token can take a few seconds to appear on its page, and the page keeps checking on its own. If the app asks you to sign in again, your session expired, so sign in and carry on.
Before your first buy
- Read Trading and pricing, including the anti-snipe window: for the first 2 blocks after a launch (about 24 seconds), every wallet except the creator's can buy at most 5% of the supply and hold at most 5%.
- Check the token's contract address on its page.
- Check how much the creator holds. The creator can buy any amount at launch.
- Read Risk disclosures.
